Hollywood Behind the Lens

One of my favorite new releases pertaining to film history is easily Hollywood Behind the Lens: Treasures from the Bison Archives by Mark Wanamaker and Steven Bingen. Wanamaker has amassed an archival collection relating to the story of classic Hollywood and beyond.

In particular, Wanamaker’s photographic collection is showcased heavily throughout this fascinating book, which depicts Hollywood of the past and compares it to the present. From stars to studios, there are numerous photographs for film fans to enjoy and explore.

I would heavily recommend this book to fans of classic Hollywood and the studio system, as there are many candid and posed photographs of film stars in addition to “then and now” shots of notable film history-related locations.

Hollywood Behind the Lens: Treasures from the Bison Archives is available via Lyons Press.
