All I Want is Loving You

In examining the music of the 1950s, there was an array of iconic musical output. Moreover, many female vocalists were in the spotlight during this era.

In Steve Bergsman’s All I Want is Loving You: Popular Female Singers of the 1950s, Bergsman explores the stories of numerous white female vocalists of the 1950s. This is supplemented with a companion text entitled What a Difference a Day Makes: Women Who Conquered 1950s Music. In this text, Bergsman details the stories of female vocalists with careers that lasted far beyond the 1950s in addition to vocalists who are less well-known today. He also includes information about many of their peers and contemporaries, citing how these individuals were marketed, their vocal stylings, as well as how they competed with one another in the business.

This book is exceptionally well-focused and researched and is recommended to fans of 1950s-era music and film.
