The Fatal Alliance

Dramatizations and depictions of war have been explored in film since the earliest days of the medium itself. To this day, war continues to be examined and portrayed in films all over the world and from various perspectives.

In The Fatal Alliance: A Century of War on Film, author David Thomson examines depictions of war in cinema from a historical and modern perspective. Offering both history and commentary on this difficult subject, Thomson delves into romanticizations and horrors of war in addition to how battle sequences are portrayed. Thomson also explores the narrative of the histories portrayed in these films as well as dishonesty and omissions.

The Fatal Alliance: A Century of War on Film is available for purchase via HarperCollins.
