They say a picture is worth a thousand words–and Gary Cooper: Enduring Style is namely comprised of stunning pictures documenting the life of Gary Cooper through the camera lens. Many of the photographs were taken by his wife, Veronica “Rocky” Cooper, capturing the intimate and public sides of life with the Coopers.

The book is a collaborative effort by Cooper’s daughter, Maria Cooper Janis, as well as Ralph Lauren and G. Bruce Boyer. The included photographs are high-quality black and white as well as full color, documenting life on- and off-screen for Cooper. Many of his hobbies are depicted here in addition to him on set or pictures of his home. Moreover, my favorite photographs are candid photographs of him away from movie sets and relaxing in addition to the instances of photographs of Rocky. Even family pets make it into the volume. Additionally, fellow Hollywood peers can also be spotted throughout the book, including the likes of Clark Gable, Elizabeth Taylor, Tony Curtis, Sammy Davis Jr., Ingrid Bergman, and more.

I highly recommend this book to fans of photography, classic Hollywood, and Cooper.
