Walk of Western Stars

Just twenty-five miles north of Hollywood, film fans can find an area that celebrates the impact of Western films. Newhall, California, has long stood as a backdrop to Western films, dating back to the Golden Age of Hollywood. Nestled in the Santa Clarita Valley, the Walk of Western Stars celebrates a broad range of Western film legends.

Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce dedicated this Western genre version of the Walk of Fame in 1981. Honorees are added annually, and the same company that installs Hollywood Walk of Fame stars to the Hollywood Walk of Fame also handles new additions to the Walk of Western Stars. Here, the Walk of Western Stars honors legends of Western film, television, and radio, all of whom have actively contributed to America’s cultural heritage. They are honored with bronze stars and terrazzo tiles installed along Old Town Newhall’s Main Street.

The Walk of Western Stars honors actors, directors, and film professionals who have contributed to Western heritage through their output. I invite you to enjoy the photos I took on my stroll down Old Town Main Street and see if some of your favorite Western stars are celebrated.

In addition, I was moved by a stunning mural while on my walk. This gorgeous scene was created by Victoria Sulski and Peter Bartczak, capturing the beautiful spirit of the genre.

The Walk of Western Stars is located at Main St., Santa Clarita, California.
