Season of the Gods

Readers rejoice–Robert Matzen brings us another delightful work, this time in the form of a debut novel about the making of Casablanca (1942).

In Season of the Gods, Matzen delves into the store of Irene “Reenie” Lee as his protagonist, based upon the woman of the same name who was a scout for Warner Bros. Studios. She finds great potential in an unproduced play entitled Everybody Comes to Rick’s, initiating this whirlwind story that leads to one of the greatest classic films.

This book is highly recommended to fans of Casablanca and classic films. In addition, readers interested in enjoying depictions of other Hollywood greats, including Michael Curtiz, Humphrey Bogart, and more, will be all the more delighted.

Season of the Gods is available via GoodKnight Books.
