Drag

Drag performance has a long history that has been expressed on the stage and screen on numerous occasions. Drag: A British History focuses upon the lengthy history of drag performance in Britain from the past to the present.

In this book, author Jacob Bloomfield offers a thorough and extremely well-researched discussion of drag performance over the years, examining it through the lens of gender and sexuality in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Here, he discusses notable performances and perceptions of drag, while dispelling myths and noting the importance of drag in British cultural heritage.

While much of this book is focused on the stage and theatre, it certainly sets the scene for an exploration of drag in screen performances.
